Responder Down provides up to $12,000 in immediate financial assistance to the families of First Responders who have died in the line of duty. Financial assistance is paid directly to the beneficiary.
Responder Down recognizes First Responders as the following:
- Law Enforcement Officers
- Corrections Officers
This includes state, federal, and local agencies; whether full-time, part-time, or volunteer status.
- The First Responder must be certified in their respective field.
- First Responders who succumb to an in the line of duty death within the first twelve months of the injury date will be covered.
- First Responder on duty suicides will not be covered.
- Suspicious duty related deaths will be properly vetted prior to any financial disbursements.
Once a First Responder’s death has come to the attention of Responder Down (typically within several hours), a representative from Responder Down will then reach out to an agency head to begin the financial disbursement process.
